What was the brief?
A spacious interior combining living room, kitchen and dining area. The ceiling was to have clean geometry and one continuous surface. The room layout changed several times during the works, so the solution had to be flexible.
What was difficult?
A height of 3.5 m demanded precision at every stage. We fitted the cut-outs around the glass panels and the fixings for the lights to measurements taken on site.
The complex transitions and working around the fireplace called for extremely accurate cutting of the membrane.
What did we do?
We chose a white MSD high-gloss membrane from a 5 m wide roll: the whole ceiling was made from one piece, with no seam, which visually enlarges the interior.
Installing in stages let us position the lighting, work around the glass and prepare the fixings for the lights to match the room as it actually was.
How long did installation take?
The main installation took five days. Day six: electric curtain tracks and adjusting the lighting.
What is the result?
The ceiling is flat, glossy and makes the space feel bigger. The cut-outs and the areas around the fireplace and glass panels are cleanly finished. The client has recommended us to several friends.
