Questions and answers about stretch ceilings

A square metre of ceiling, material and installation included, costs from €30. The price depends on the area, membrane finish, profile and number of light points. After the site survey you receive an itemised quote. Prices are indicative and do not constitute a binding offer within the meaning of Art. 66 § 1 of the Polish Civil Code.

The floor area and height of the room, the chosen finish and type of membrane, the type of profile (wall, shadow gap, backlit) and the number of fittings, service penetrations and obstacles to work around. We give the exact price after the site survey.

Usually one day for a room up to 18 m². Larger spaces and projects with lighting are planned into a schedule with time in reserve.

It depends on the site survey date, the chosen material and our queue. We agree a specific date when we talk and write it into the contract.

For the material alone a stretch ceiling is usually more expensive than plasterboard, but you skip the filling, painting and several days of work, so for a simple ceiling the costs come out similar. We'll work out what it would cost for you after the site survey and compare it with a plasterboard quote if you have one.

Certified membranes from European manufacturers: MSD, TEQTUM and BAUF films and CLIPSO and JM fabrics, for ceilings and walls. Every membrane has a confirmed origin and specifications.

PVC film. It isn't bothered by steam or water, holds back a leak, and the surface wipes clean with a damp cloth. We install fabric in a bathroom only away from the shower area and with good ventilation.

Fabric, if you want a matte surface with no reflections or better acoustics. Film, if you want gloss and a visually bigger room. We show both options on samples during the site survey.

Yes. Fabric is tensioned cold, with no heater. PVC film needs the room heated to around 40–60 °C and tightens as it cools.

Fabric, yes, because it is stable through temperature changes. PVC film in an unheated room goes slack or shrinks, so for a terrace, summer house or unheated garage we choose fabric.

PVC film holds up to 100 l of water per square metre. We drain the water through a light fitting opening, the membrane returns to its original shape and the room stays dry. After a leak it's worth calling us in for an inspection.

No. Installation is a dry process, with no mortar, sanding or wet trades. The ceiling can be installed in a furnished room; we protect the surfaces and clean up after ourselves.

No. The furniture stays in the room; we move it away from the walls along the profile and cover it with protective sheeting.

About 1 cm with a wall profile. More only where we hide fittings, ventilation ducts or backlit profiles above the ceiling; then we agree the height at the site survey.

It puts no load on the slab, goes up dry with no sanding, and gives a smooth surface that doesn't crack. It hides lighting, ventilation and services in a single plane. Plasterboard needs a frame, filling and painting, and cracks at the joints when the building moves.

We cut the membrane to size only after the site survey, and we agree the fittings and service penetrations before cutting. Changes after cutting need a new piece, which is why we ask for the final layout of lights before the contract.

The membrane can be punctured with a sharp tool (we repair this as part of our service), PVC film needs the room heated and isn't suitable for unheated interiors, and in strong draughts fabric may ripple slightly. For the material alone a stretch ceiling costs more than plasterboard.

We work around the fireplace with a clearance from the hot parts, and heat recovery diffusers and air conditioning grilles come through the ceiling on platforms, just like light fittings. We plan all penetrations before cutting the membrane.

Yes. We add new light points, profiles and service penetrations to an existing ceiling as part of our service; we take the membrane off the profile and put it back on.

A stretch wall is one fabric across the whole surface, with no visible joins or frames; the acoustic layer is hidden behind it. Panels are separate elements with a visible edge. A stretch wall gives a uniform surface and can be replaced later.

Yes. The profile is fixed to the wall, and the fabric covers unevenness and small cracks. The plaster doesn't need to be levelled; it just has to hold wall plugs.

No. Acoustic fabric reduces reverberation inside the room. Insulation from noise coming through the wall only comes from mass and insulating layers in the partition itself.

Yes. The fabric is clipped into the profile and held by tension. It comes off for replacement, washing or to reach the services behind it, and then goes back on.

Up to 10 years on the membrane and 3 years on installation. After the guarantee period we still provide service: we replace components and make changes to an existing ceiling.

We show you the finished ceiling, check the membrane tension and that the lighting works, and hand over the guarantee. Handover takes a quarter of an hour, and after that we're at the end of the phone.

Yes. We install across Poland and in EU countries. For projects outside Łódź we plan the site survey and installation to keep the number of trips down.

Yes. We work with architectural practices, developers and fit-out companies under a contract with scope and dates, with as-built documentation and a guarantee.
